Data recovery for a phone that won’t turn on.

Photos, messages and important files can still matter long after a device stops working. BoxLab assesses damaged iPhone, iPad and Samsung devices to find out whether the original hardware can be restored enough to access your data.

Discuss your device ↗

When your data is the priority

Tell us that you need data recovery before any work starts. The goal may be to make the original device work long enough to retrieve your files, even when a lasting everyday repair is not practical.

  • Dead iPhone or Samsung phone with photos still inside
  • Liquid damage followed by no power or unstable operation
  • A device stuck restarting or unable to finish starting up
  • Important files on an iPad that no longer turns on

Why board-level diagnosis matters

A replacement screen or battery cannot fix every fault. We investigate the original logic board and assess whether component-level repair can restore access. Recovery depends on the damage and the condition of the original components; no outcome is guaranteed before diagnosis.

Before you send your device

Do not erase, factory-reset or restore a device when you need the data inside. If it still works, make a backup first. Let us know about liquid exposure, previous repairs and any steps already attempted.

We will discuss any device access needed privately. Do not post your passcode or account credentials publicly.

An assessment before a decision

We explain the applicable diagnostic fee and proposed work before you commit. Recovery scope, cost, delivery method and timing depend on your device. Tell us which files matter most so we can agree on the goal.

Based in Montréal–Laval, BoxLab accepts mail-in enquiries from across Canada. Local visits are by appointment; this is not a walk-in storefront.

Questions before you send it

Can you recover data without fully repairing the phone?

Sometimes. A device may only need enough functionality restored to access its data. This depends on the fault and cannot be promised before assessment.

Does a dead phone mean my photos are gone?

Not necessarily. A no-power fault alone does not establish whether recovery is possible. The original hardware needs to be assessed.

What if I have already had it repaired elsewhere?

Tell us what work was attempted and whether any original parts were replaced. That history helps us assess the options.
